Aşut has been running “Asut Fiberglass” since 1983. He is one of the founders and first Executive Board Members of MORSKUD – Mersin Organized Industrial Zones Users Foundation. He was elected as the Vice-President of TOSYÖV- Mersin Support Foundation. He is also one of the founders of İSGEV – Mersin Technological Development and Education Fund.
He carried out the vice-presidency of Mersin Technoscope between 2006 and 2010 and the Presidency of Mersin Organized Industrial Zone in 2004. He represented Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry at TUBİTAK Science and Technology Board between 2009 and 2010. In 2009, he was elected as the President of Mersin Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the President of ASCAME Industry Commission respectively.
He was elected as the President of the Logistics Commission of ASCAME and he still carries out this duty. He was the Board and Executive Committee Member, and Vice-President of DEİK – Foreign Economic Relations Board in 2014 respectively.
Dr. Ghassan AIDI, A 30 years veteran of Hospitality Industry and Chairman and chief executive officer – Royal Regency International Hotels, a US company based in Washington, DC as well as the President of International Hotels and Restaurants Association (IHRA) and founder and President of Mediterranean Hotels & Restaurants Association (MHRA).
Under Ghassan AIDI’s leadership, IHRA was a co founder with UNWTO of the task force for the protection of Children Worldwide, Chosen by United Nations Foundation to create and define the criteria for sustainable development in Hospitality. Creating with ILO for the first memorandum of labor force in Hospitality and lately working with IOM to encourage Mobility of Labor Worldwide.
He supports the creation of Hotels standardization and Hotel classification and he is working through MHRA for the defining of criteria for sustainable development for Hotels in Mediterranean under the Label EMERAUDE HOTEL
Born in 1949 in Trabzon, Ulusoy, graduated from İstanbul Economical and Commercial Science Academy in 1970. He had been working in other fields such as construction, shipping, transportation and insurance before taking step into tourism.
He performed as TURSAB Executive Board Member and Treasurer Member in 1981. Becoming the President of TURSAB between 1991-1993, Ulusoy became the President of TURSAB for the second time in 1999. He still serves in Advisory Committee of Turkey Environment and Education Foundation, SKAL International (International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals), Turkey Touring and Automobile Organization and as an Executive Board Member of DEİK
Mr. Kristijan Pavić is the President of MedCruise following serving two years (2014-2016) as Senior Vice-President of the Association representing cruise ports in the Med and its adjoining seas. His professional development has so far brought him a variety of experiences within the cruise industry. Following graduation in maritime sciences (Split University), he worked as cruise company employee onboard ship. In 2006-2010 he became the General Manager of County Dubrovnik Port Authority, and since 2010 he serves the Dubrovnik port authority, as General Manager (2010-2012) or deputy General Manager (2012–today). He has been professionally active in cruise destination management, the enhancement of the cooperation between ports and cities, as well as in the development of partner relations between cruise market stakeholders, in the Adriatic Region and beyond.
Born in 1935, Antonio García del Valle has a long professional experience in Tourism by having occupied positions such as member of the Executive Council “Promoters of the Costa del Sol”, President of the Airport and Tourism Commissions of the CCI Malaga respectively in 1998/2002 and 2002/2010. He has also been really involved in the International Association of Travel and Tourism Professionals: SKÅL CLUB (A.I.S.C) by being successively President of the Spanish Federation in 1977, President of the International Council in 1978, President of the International Association SKÅL in 1994. In 2003 he was elected Honorary President of AISC. He has received various awards such as the SKÅL Gold Medal for Merit, the Bronze and Silver Medals for Tourism Merit of Spanish Government and the Honor Medal for promoting Tourism in Ibiza.
From 1991 until 2010, he has been the general director of the National Union of Associations of Tourism, in France. He has also had international responsibilities, first as President of the Federation of International Youth Travel Organizations (FIYTO), from 1987 until 1997…and, in 2010, He was elected (and rellected until 2018) as President of the International Social Tourism Organisation (ISTO), based in Brussels. He is a French citizen and lives in Paris. ISTO has particularly worked, over the last five years, on senior tourism, together with the European Commission, and he personally started a program for senior citizens in France. Mignon is also a member of the World Committee fon Tourism Ethics of UNWTO.
Emine Özmete is professor at Ankara University, at the Department of Social Work. She is the head of the Center on Aging Studies Implementation and Research at Ankara University. She is conducting her studies about quality of life, well-being, social capital, life skill education, financial behavior- financial planning and resource management in the family and aging studies.
She has become Associate Professor in 2006 in the Department of Social Work. She visited to USA Iowa State University, Department of Family Studies and Human Development as scholar. Prof. Özmete is a respective member of International Federation on Aging, International Federation on Social Work and International Federation on Home Economic. She also makes contrubitons to Euopean Network on Intercultural Elderly Care (ENIEC) as a member.
She is advisory member of Family and Social Politics Ministry.
Erkunt Öner started his professional tourism career with the tour guiding license which he received through the support of the Ministry of Tourism while studying law at Ankara University at the age of 21. In 1964, he took a Tourism Training Program in Brussels offered by the Belgian Government. In 1972 he completed his academic career with a degree in International Relations, Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies at Sorbonne University.
He founded Tura Turizm in 1966 as an inbound and outbound tour operator based in Istanbul. Over the past 50 years, the company has grown dynamically to become one of the strongest tour operators in Turkey. During his career, Erkunt Öner owned and managed cruise ships, ferries and hotels of various sizes. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Istanbul from 1990 until 2000. He participated as an interim lecturer at Seatrade Cruise Academy in Cambridge in 2012. He has often been a speaker at Seatrade Conferences in Miami, Europe and the Mediterranean, PSA, Med Cruise, and WTM. Tura Turizm is a family owned business run by a corporate framework. Erkunt Öner has served as Chairman and CEO of Tura Turizm for 50 years, from its founding to the present.
Ms. Esencan Terzibasoglu has been working in the UNWTO since 2001 as the responsible person for supervising and running the programme initiatives in the area of tourism destination management. She studied “urban and regional planning” in the Middle East Technical University (1976) in Ankara, Turkey and worked 25 years in the public sector in Turkey and abroad.
During her various posts in the public sector, she also contributed as an international expert to some research projects and initiatives conducted by international organizations such as UNEP, particularly on “sustainable tourism development and management” in the Mediterranean coastal zones. In the meantime she contributed to various technical committees under the umbrella of several intergovernmental organizations like WTO (UNWTO), UNESCO, HABITAT, OECD, MEMMTA etc.
Born in 1965 in Istanbul, Yalçıntaş completed his secondary and high school education in Saint Joseph French High School. After graduating from Boğaziçi University Faculty of Mechanics, he completed the Common MBA Program at Boston and Vrije Universities between 1988 and 1990, the PhD in Business Administration at Istanbul University (on Customer Satisfaction in Service Sector) between 2005 and 2007. Owning companies operating on casting, heating and ventilation and telecommunication sectors, Murat Yalçıntaş was elected as Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Council Member from the Hardware Committee (No: 70) during the 1995 and 1999 elections. He was elected as the President of Istanbul Chamber of Commerce in 2005 and reelected to this mission in 2009. Carrying on many duties in various institutions during his Presidency at ICC, he was elected as the President of Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME) between 2007-2012. He contributed to ASCAME in terms of institutionalising and providing Mediterranean to become the most powerful voice of the sector. As well as the success he achieved in terms of the representation of Turkey abroad and enhancing bilateral relations, he was awarded with Order of State by France, Légion d’Honneur, and Order of State by Italy, Commendatore, in 2010.
Dr. Murat Yalçıntaş was married with three children. He speaks fluent English and French; as well as German and Arabic at midlevel.

He served as a Member of the Committee of 50 Drafting the Egyptian Constitution; Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC); Board Member of ArabBelgium-Luxemburg Chamber of Commerce in Brussels; Vice Chairman of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce. Moreover, he has been serving for many other duties recently as well. He is the Chairman and Founder of Wakalex Group; Chairman of El Wakil CottonGins, El Beheira Rice Mills and El Wakil Oil Mills as well as Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC), Chairman of Union of African Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Agriculture and Professions (UACCIAP), Senior Vice Chairman of Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chairman of Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of Egyptian-Syrian Business Council, Board Member of Alexandria Ports Authority; Vice Chairman in the Association of the Mediterranean Chambers of Commerce and Industry (ASCAME).
Osman Ayık was born in 1958, in Sivas, Turkey. He obtained his early education in Ankara; received a B.A. from Middle East Technical University, in Ankara and completed his Master Degree in Queen’s University at Kingston, Canada. He had been the President of Mediterranean Touristic Hoteliers Association (AKTOB) between the years of 2003 and 2007. He, besides, has been one of the Execuive Board Members of the Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TUROFED) since its establishment and was elected as the President of TUROFED in 2011. Mr. Ayık works as a General Manager in their family establishment Champion Holiday Village since 1988 in Antalya, Turkey.
Born in Pirgos Ilias in 1951, Mr. Nikoloutsos graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering, National Technical University of Athens. He has been practicing civil engineering within the construction industry and has participated in various large scale projects in Southwestern Greece. He was elected as President of the Ilia Chamber in 2011, a position he holds ever since. Ilia Chamber is an active member of AIC FORUM and the ASCAME. Both the historical ancient city of Olympia were the Olympic Games took place from 776 B.C. since 393 A.C., and also the port of Katakolon one of the most important cruise ports in Greece are situated. within the region of Ilia.He serves also as a member of the Tourism Committee of the Union of Hellenic Chambers of Commerce. From 2002 to 2006, he was elected as the Head of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Pyrgos. He speaks fluently English and Italian.
Born in 1957 in Trabzon, Can Akşit completed his primary, secondary and high school education in Ankara. He stayed in England for a year during his language training. He graduated from Ankara University, Faculty of Languages, History and Geography, Department of English Language and Literature and started his work life in Büyük Ankara Hotel in 1976. Akşit worked there until 1987. Can Akşit has been the General Manager of Adana Seyhan Hotel since 1990. He is married with a daughter. Akşit speaks English fluently.
He is one of the Founding Members of Adana Union of Forces Foundation. He served as the Former President and Member of Adana Çukurova Rotary Club, Vice-President of Association of Çukurova Touristic Hoteliers, Executive Board Member of Çukurova Philharmonic Foundation and Founding Member of SKAL International Çukurova. Can Akşit is the President of SKAL International Turkey.
Working as a Lecturer in University of Malta between 1971 and 1973 related to the courses which are Political Philosophy and Government, Mr. George Saliba had held a duty as President and Founder of Maltese Arab Friendship Society between 1976 and 1978 as well as General Manager in KPH Feed Mill between 1978-1981. With a twenty-year-long diplomatic career, Saliba worked as ambassador to many countries within the body of Foreign Ministry in Malta such as Saudi Arabia (1981-1987), Libya (1987-1993), Russian Federation (1993-1997), United States (1999-2003) as well as a Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York (1997-1999). He has been currently carrying his duty as Business Consultant in Database Management Systems (DBMS) since 2004. And he is the Special Representative of the Secretary General in the Union for Mediterranean (UfM).
Fluent in French, English and Turkish he is a specialist on Anatolia during the 2nd and the beginning of the 1st Millennium B.C., with specific focus on the interpretation of the Hittite related material production.
Philologist with interests in History and Civilization of Anatolia from the third to the first millennium B.C., Marie Claude Trémouille’s researches mainly concern: Hittites and Hurrians, Historical Geography and History of Religions as well as Onomastic studies and Lexicography. She lead two specific research programs. The first is devoted to the southeastern region of Anatolia (modern Cilicia), known in the Hittite literature as the country Kizzuwatna; the second is directed to establish a Corpus of onomastic data in the Hittite texts. Currently she has been carrying out a historical and geographical study of the Cilicia between the thirteenth and seventh century B.C. She is a Senior Researcher Emerita, former Director of the Institute for the Study of Civilizations of the Aegean and the Near East of the Italian National Council of Research. Trémouille is currently member of the International Association of Mediterranean and Oriental Studies (ISMEO), Near East Department. She also collaborates in the “Hethitische Forschungen the Akademie der Wissenschaften und der Literatur Mainz” Project.
Born in Venice (Italy), Isabella Caneva is associate Professor in “Prehistory of the Near East” at the University of Lecce, Faculty of Cultural Heritage, as well as at the School of Specialization in Archaeology, at the same University.
She is a permanent member of the Doctoral School in Prehistoric
Archaeology at the University of Rome La Sapienza and was a frequent member of jury for Research Doctorate in Prehistory in France (Paris I, La Sorbonne, Aix en Provence and Paris X, Nanterre). She is a member of the advisory board of several scientific reviews, as well as of international scientific associations.
She has been responsible for several research projects and participated or directed over sixty archaeological campaigns in Italy, Turkey, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, and France. She has been the Director of the “Mission for Prehistoric Research in Egypt and Sudan” since 1985 and of the “Italian Archaeological Mission at Mersin-Yumuktepe (Turchia)” since 1993.
Emel Erten was born in Ankara and she is a graduate of TED Ankara College. She received her bachelor’s degree from Ankara University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Classical Archaeology and Contemporary Anatolian Archaeology. She obtained her master’s degree from Dokuz Eylül University, Department of Restoration and PhD from Ankara University, Faculty of Letters, Department of History of Art. She worked as an archaeologist and department director in the Ministry of Culture between 1983-1997. She became Assistant Professor at Mersin University in 1997 and Associate Professor in 2005. Between 2008 and 2011 she worked as associate professor at Gazi University, Faculty of Letters, Department of Archaeology. Since 2011, she has been the Professor of Archaeology in the same department. She has been director of archaeological surveys and excavations at Mersin Silifke Olba since 2001.
Graduated from Ankara University Department of Archaeology and Art History in 1993, Ayşe Aydın, completed her doctorate with her thesis titled, “Emirzeli: A Settlement in Mountainous Cilicia from Hellenistic Period until Late Ancient Period” in Christian Archaeology and Byzantine Art History Department at Philipps University, Marburg, Germany. She received the titles of Associate Professorship and Professorship in field of “Early Christianity and Arts of Byzantine” in 2003 and 2010 respectively.
She has many international and national projects, in most of which acted as coordinator and especially in fields of Late Ancient Byzantine Period construction and handcrafts of Cilicia and Isaura Region; Christian Art in Mediterranean Region during the Ottoman Period and two published books related to different subjects on Early Christianity-Byzantine Period, a translation book, her own chapters in the mentioned book and articles published both international and national refereed journals.
